About Elizabeth

About Elizabeth Fitts Family and Friends legacy

Elizabeth Fitts was the beloved matriarch of the Fitts family, a woman who embodied independence, kindness, and selflessness. Born on July 13, 1927, she grew up in Greensboro, NC, where she met Mrs. Headen and found in her a lifelong family and cousin. Although Elizabeth was raised Methodist, she also attended Baptist churches.

She was married to Clarence Calvihertts Sr., who passed away in December 1986. Together, Elizabeth and her husband relocated to NYC when their three sons Calvin Jr., Herman, and Ronald were still toddlers in the mid-1950s. Their daughter Valencia and son Landon were born in NYC.

Elizabeth was a devoted mother of five, with four sons and one daughter. She was also blessed with twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and twenty-three nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth’s career was truly impressive. She worked for 21 years with the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority as an executive/legal secretary for the Comptroller. After retiring in October 1988, she relocated from Yonkers, NY, to Cary, NC, in 2005, where she would spend the rest of her life.

Elizabeth touched the lives of so many people with her kindness, warmth, and generosity. Her memory will live on in those she loved and who loved her in return.

Grandma took care of all of us and there was never a dull moment hanging out at her house, that we didn’t want to go home…
